Supreme Council for Women hosts BWNT
Ms. Hala Al Ansari, Secretary-General of the Supreme Council for Women, affirmed the Council’s permanent support for the presence of Bahraini women in various sports fields, and its encouragement of them to register a strong and prominent presence in all games and competitions, to be the first to serve their country and raise its flag in local, regional and even international sports forums, pointing in this context also to the positive impact of practicing sports regularly on the quality of women’s lives and their physical and psychological health. This came during a meeting held by Al Ansari with the players of the Bahraini women’s national football team and members of the technical and administrative staff of the team, headed by Shaikha Hessa bint Khalid Al Khalifa, Head of the Women’s Committee at the Bahrain Football Association and the Bahraini women’s national team at the Council’s headquarters in Riffa, on the occasion of the Bahraini women’s national team achieving second place in the 6th West Asian Women’s Football Championship, which was held in the Kingdom of Bahrain from January 7-15, for the first time in the history of the team, where Al Ansari congratulated the Head of the Women’s Committee, the administrative team and members of the national team, and also congratulated the Bahraini women’s team player “Hessa Al-Essa” on receiving the award for the best player in the tournament (the 6th West Asian Women’s Football Championship).
During the meeting, the opportunities available to Bahraini women to achieve more accomplishments in the sports field were discussed.
Al Ansari noted the support and interest of the Kingdom of Bahrain in building an integrated sports system in which women participate side by side with men at the level of clubs or sports federations, as Bahrain now has professional sports cadres in various clubs and national federations in light of the presence of specialized women’s leagues, all of which contributed to enhancing the presence of Bahraini women in the sports arena and Bahrain’s position on the global sports map.
In this context, Al Ansari praised the qualitative successes achieved by Bahraini women in the sports field, which witnessed great brilliance for Bahraini women, stressing that Bahraini women’s sports have come a long way in the field of sports excellence, as women’s sports have entered the line strongly in recent years, and women have also entered the fields of training, refereeing and management of various sports.
For her part, Shaikha Hessa bint Khalid Al Khalifa, Chairwoman of the Women’s Committee at the Bahrain Football Association and the Bahraini National Women’s Team, praised the efforts made by the Supreme Council for Women, headed by Her Royal Highness Princess Sabeeka bint Ibrahim Al Khalifa, Wife of His Majesty the King, may God protect her, to support Bahraini women in various fields, including sports, stressing the keenness of the Bahraini team players to exert more efforts to ascend the podiums, enhance the bright image of Bahraini women who are capable of achieving in various fields, and raise the flag of Bahrain high in all forums.
